Retirement
We all will be thinking about it one day. Some prepare, some don’t.
Long Term Planning
The one thing that never comes to mind is putting some money on the side. 401k is a foreign term to many who first start working for the company. Some of your taxes are being put aside as a savings in the form of Social Security. And the most important of the three is your pension. Imagine a situation when you have put in the years with the company and you are ready to cash it in and retire. Retiring is a reality for most in a few years and a term some of you who just started is a million miles away.
I know when I first started, I didn’t take the pension seriously or my 401K. I was lucky enough to have a friend convince me to put five (5%) of my paycheck aside towards my 401k. The money isn’t really missed if you consider the things you would waste it on. Or if you are not wasting your money, then consider cutting back in order to save. I will give any example and list a few states to give one the idea of how important to set some goals and understand that the union and company are giving one the opportunity to be comfortable after reaching that finish line.

The Finish Line
The finish line is possible, but some do not believe they will reach this finish line, because of the harassment and production. If one understands the basic rules, then planning for retirement is easy. What is important is understanding that you are truly in control. Understand the rules, follow them, and then plan your future. This is a simple formula. Your working for a reason, reaping the benefits is the payoff. Remember, at some point we all slow down and will want to enjoy life. Fishing, BBQ, traveling, playing video games, etc. Who really knows or cares, as long as you get to choose how to spend that time. What is important is having the ability to spend it the way you want to. Following the rules and planning gives you that security and ability to do so.
Tools for planning retirement
Planning for retirement is not easy when one has the attitude that they have all the time in the world. Time is slow intially, then a little faster as the years go by. Then the day comes when one thinks about the Ant and the Grasshopper.
